Colfax
Whether you are interested in buying real estate in Colfax CA or you are just planning to visit, you may be wondering what you can do when you get here. Colfax is a beautiful little city with a lot to offer, and even if you are only going to be passing through for a few days, check out some of the many city attractions.

Here are just a few fun things you can do in Colfax.

Visit Rollins Lake
Come to the lake to enjoy both camping and fun times on the water. Not only are there plenty of trails to hike, you will also find that there is plenty of boating, canoeing and kayaking to be had as well. If you are looking for some great outdoor fun located very close to Colfax, be sure to consider Rollins Lake.

Explore the Colfax Cemetery
While some people might consider a cemetery a rather grim place to visit, the truth of the matter is that cemeteries can tell us a great deal about the past. The Colfax Cemetery in particular has a great deal to say about the history of the town as well as the art of carved gravestones. The cemetery was first created in 1850, when the cemetery’s first resident was interred. Since then, the cemetery has grown, and many of the statues in the cemetery are quite beautiful in their own right. Funerary decorations from this era had their own meanings, so as you tour the cemetery, consider what some of the symbols might mean.

Mountain Bike on Stevens Trail
Stevens Trail is a trail for experienced mountain bikers. Some parts of the trail are fairly narrow, and in some of those places, an intermediate level mountain biker would be well-advised to dismount and walk their bike across. However, someone who pursues this trail will be rewarded by a stunning view of the river and the forest below. You will also find that there are plenty of wildflowers along the trail, making this a wonderfully pretty ride if you go during the right season. Also remember that there are no motorcycles allowed on this trail at all. Once again, this is a trail for seasoned cyclists.

Hike Indian Creek Falls Trail
You don’t need to restrict yourself to bike riding when you are seeing Colfax for the first time. Whether you show up in spring, summer or fall, make sure that you consider hiking the Indian Creek Falls Trail, a trail that offers a gain of 500 feet in elevation stretched out over a loop that requires about 3 miles of walking. The trail will take you by Indian Creek Falls, which is a gorgeous double fall that runs along the North Fork of the American River. Be advised that you do have to cross Shirttail Creek close to the beginning of the trail, which can flow very fast in the spring. For the best results, wait until late summer to try this trail, as you can often simply cross the stream without getting wet at all.

Visit the Colfax Heritage Museum
If you are someone who is interested in United States history, local history or even the history of transport, take a moment to consider stopping by the Colfax Heritage Museum. This museum is housed in the building that was once the Colfax Depot, where the trains would stop, and after a complete remodel, this museum now holds artifacts from the last two hundred years.

When you are thinking about seeing what Colfax CA has to offer, take a look around and allow this exceptional town to broaden your horizons. This is a fantastic way to learn more about the city.
